History of Tourism and Mining

This tour will provide you with an insight into mining activities in the White Peak (lead, fluospar and mineral extraction). You will be taken on gentle walks by our knowledgeable guides from the Matlock Museum of Mining who will interpret the landscape and explain how what was once an industrial wasteland peppered with mine shafts and open cast workings has regenerated to become one of the most beautiful and fascinating parts of the Peak District National Park. You will also be treated to lectures on particular aspects of mining history and you will have the opportunity to visit the Museum of Mining.
